Join the Yoshi-centered excitement in the Yoshi Tour event
The city courses of Mario Kart Tour are getting a fresh update with the introduction of the Yoshi Tour, a limited-time event that will take place every two weeks. This exciting event, inspired by the beloved Yoshi's Island, will be available from March 23 to April 6.
During the Yoshi Tour, players can race with a variety of Yoshi characters, including Green Yoshi, Red, Orange, Light-Blue, Yellow Yoshi, and special costumes such as Yoshi (Reindeer), Yoshi (Egg Hunt), and Yoshi Mii Racing Suit. Baby Yoshis will also make an appearance, linked to Yoshi’s Egg items and skills within the game.
The signature race course of the Yoshi Tour is Yoshi's Island, adapted from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with unique features like Yoshi’s Island banners, race fanfare, and a unique ending theme. The course has undergone several adjustments, such as background Huffin Puffins, smoky chimneys on Yoshi’s House and the castle, and the volcano being dormant without lava splashes.
Players can earn Yoshi-themed rewards such as special Yoshi eggs as items, Yoshi-themed karts (like the Egg 1 kart), and gliders resembling Yoshi's Egg. The tour’s limited-time nature usually means exclusive dash meals or outfits are available, although specific rewards during Yoshi Tour are not detailed.
Yoshi's Egg is also tied to special skills for Yoshi characters, enhancing gameplay during the event. The third course of every cup will be the favored courses for the drivers during the Yoshi Tour.
In addition to the racing action, players can put their artistic skills to the test with fun new challenges in Auto Mode during the Yoshi Tour. With a Mario Kart Tour Gold Pass subscription, players can also receive Yoshi, Red Yoshi, the Turbo Yoshi kart, the Red Turbo Yoshi kart, and the Heart Balloons glider as Tour gifts.
The Banana Master Pipe, available from March 27 to April 14, offers a chance to pluck rare drivers like Mario (Sunshine), Dixie Kong, Funky Kong, Donkey Kong Jr. (SNES), and various other finds. Players who compete for first place in the Yoshi Tour can collect Grand Stars and unlock in-game rewards.
To play Mario Kart Tour, players will need a persistent internet, compatible smartphone, and Nintendo Account. Data charges may apply. A Mario Kart Tour Gold Pass subscription is sold separately. The game allows players to race in courses inspired by real-world locations and series favorites.
