JW Filshill Boosts Profits 22.8% Despite Market Challenges
Scottish food and drink wholesaler JW Filshill has reported a significant boost in profits, despite navigating challenging market conditions. The company announced a 22.8% rise in profits to £4.9 million for the year ending 31 January 2025.
JW Filshill maintained a stable turnover of £214m during the same period. The company's operating profit climbed 18.7% to £5.0m, reflecting the group's ability to drive efficiency and offset increasing costs. Chief financial and operating officer Keith Geddes attributed this success to the company's focus on efficiency.
The company has also invested heavily in technology and staff development. It has upskilled employees to leverage AI advancements and invested in data analytics and emissions tracking software. This commitment to innovation has not only improved operational efficiency but also led to the company being named Regional Wholesaler of the Year in The Grocer Gold Awards 2025.
JW Filshill supplies over 200 Keystore convenience stores and around 1,600 independent retailers across Scotland and the north of England. The company's success is a testament to its ability to navigate a highly competitive market and maintain strong relationships with its clients.
