Kertos clinches €14 million in funding

In a significant development for the European tech scene, Munich-based startup Kertos has closed a €14 million Series A financing round. The funding round was led by global fintech investor Portage, with participation from existing investors Pi Labs, Redstone, 10x Founders, and Seed + Speed Ventures.

Founded in 2021 by Kilian Schmidt, Alexander Prams, and Johannes Hussak, Kertos offers an AI-driven compliance software platform designed to set new standards in the industry. Schmidt, who also serves as the company's CEO, brings a wealth of experience from his time in the German startup scene and companies like Home24, Tier, and Gorillas.

Kertos' platform is making waves among medium-sized companies, startups, and even large corporations. It automates manual tasks, eliminating tedious work and significantly reducing costs in compliance processes. The platform combines expert knowledge with a powerful operating system, featuring AI agents that handle processes from asset capture to risk assessment, documentation, and monitoring.

The company's client list includes Personio, Blacklane, NeoTaste, and Pliant, demonstrating its ability to deliver value quickly and address its customers' pain points. Kertos prioritizes delivering a strategic asset for every European company, ensuring compliance at scale.

For large corporations, Kertos provides a solution to replace fragmented processes with AI, streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency. Helène Falchier, a Partner at Portage, has made a statement about Kertos, expressing her impression of the startup's vision and execution.

AI is increasingly embedded in critical business processes, and Kertos is uniquely positioned to create the security and control framework that organizations need. As regulatory landscapes become more complex, particularly in Europe, Kertos addresses this challenge head-on, delivering a platform that automates the entire compliance process for European companies.

With this funding, Kertos aims to create the foundational infrastructure for modern governance at scale, continuing to revolutionize the compliance software industry and setting new standards for the future.
