Koenigsegg sets new 0-400-0 km/h world record, improving previous time by 2.5 seconds.
The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut has once again made history by setting a new world record for the fastest 0-400-0 km/h acceleration and deceleration run by a homologated road car. On August 7, 2025, factory test driver Markus Lundh navigated the Jesko Absolut around the Örebro airfield in Sweden, achieving a time of 25.21 seconds. This impressive feat surpassed the car's own previous record of 27.83 seconds, set in June 2024, by more than 2.5 seconds.
The key features and improvements in the Absolut Overdrive software updates contributed significantly to the Jesko Absolut's record-breaking performance. These updates focused on the Light Speed Transmission, the engine management system, and advanced torque control.
The upgraded Light Speed Transmission (LST) allows for faster and more precise gear changes. Unlike traditional dual-clutch transmissions, the LST allows direct shifts from seventh gear to fourth gear without passing through intermediate ratios. This innovation, developed entirely in-house by Koenigsegg, features Ultimate Power on Demand (UPOD) technology for instant gear changes. The LST's multi-clutch architecture weighs just 90 kilograms compared to 140 kilograms for traditional systems, allowing for instantaneous optimization of gear ratios during demanding acceleration phases.
The improved engine management system optimizes power delivery and efficiency at extreme speeds, while the advanced torque control techniques maximize traction and acceleration despite the Jesko Absolut being rear-wheel drive. These strategies have allowed the Jesko Absolut to outperform all-wheel-drive electric rivals in straight-line speed.
The dramatic time improvement stems from new software strategies dubbed "Absolut Overdrive," which Koenigsegg plans to distribute to customer vehicles. The same Jesko Absolut used in last year's record attempt was employed for this latest achievement, demonstrating the effectiveness of software improvements rather than hardware modifications.
Despite challenging weather conditions, with Lundh navigating a drying track surface following earlier rainfall, the record run was completed successfully. The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut has rewritten performance "truths," showcasing that a combustion-powered, rear-wheel-drive production car can not only challenge but surpass cutting-edge electric hypercars in the 0-400-0 km/h sprint.
