Largest Installation of JBL Professional SRX 900 Series Empowers K-POP and Various Events Worldwide
KBS Arena Upgrades to World's Largest JBL Professional Sound System
KBS Arena, a renowned venue in Seoul, South Korea, has undergone a significant transformation with the installation of the JBL Professional sound system. This upgrade marks the world's largest deployment of the JBL SRX 900 Series loudspeakers, designed to deliver scalable, consistent, and high-quality audio for premier live music venues.
The state-of-the-art sound system, meticulously designed using JBL Venue Synthesis software, provides accurate and consistent sound coverage across multiple zones. It ensures near-perfect delay alignment within five milliseconds, minimizing echo and timing issues for a cohesive sound field. The system also offers real-time tuning capabilities via JBL Performance Manager, enabling on-the-fly adjustments during live events to maintain sound quality.
The enhanced acoustic control means the audience experiences clear, powerful, and immersive sound, regardless of their location in the venue. The system scales efficiently for varied event sizes, maintaining excellent audio fidelity and coverage as audience and room conditions change.
The new installation includes 30 JBL SRX910LA speakers, 15 each for the left and right channels, 12 JBL SRX906LA speakers for the LL/RR channels, with 6 for each side, and 18 powerful SRX928S subwoofers installed under the stage.
Oh-Sang Kwon, the manager of KBS Sports World and KBS Arena, aims to attract more performances and specialize as a world-class venue for festival performances. Performance organizers now prefer to use the in-house JBL Professional equipment without bringing their own sound system. KBS Arena is committed to hosting a variety of performances, including indie, rock bands, and hip-hop.
The project, executed by TechDataPS, was celebrated by Amar Subash, VP and GM of HARMAN Professional Solutions, APAC, who expressed gratitude for the successful execution. The JBL SRX900 series has gained significant global recognition, with South Korea being the top market for sales outside of the U.S.
Prior to the audio upgrade, there was a disparity in sound quality for audiences seated on the third floor and the side of the stage. However, with the new installation, the audience experiences clear sound up to 30 meters away, and the optimal sound quality is consistent across all seating areas. The KBS Arena's modernization with LED screens, expanded parking spaces, and improved accessibility in 2012 has been complemented by this major audio upgrade, making it a premier destination for live music performances.
The KBS Arena has played a role in broadcasting events such as the Seoul Olympics and now, with its enhanced sound system, is ready to host landmark performances in the future.
