Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Expands Classic Game Library

Nintendo has announced an expansion to the game library available on its Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service. This update includes a selection of classic games from the Nintendo GameCube, as well as additional content.

With the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, players gain access to a larger library, including Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, SEGA Genesis, and GameCube games. The Nintendo Switch Online membership requires a separate purchase and a Nintendo Account for online features, and is not available in all countries. Internet access is also required for online features.

The GameCube library available on the service includes popular titles such as "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker," "Soulcalibur 2," "F-Zero GX," and "Super Mario Sunshine." Other confirmed games are "Super Mario Strikers," "Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance," "Luigi's Mansion," "Pokemon Colosseum," "Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness," and "Chibi-Robo."

In addition to these classic games, the Expansion Pack provides access to downloadable content for current titles such as Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion, Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Happy Home Paradise, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe booster packs. The service also features classic console games from older systems as part of its broader offerings.

The library is expected to continue expanding over time, especially for GameCube titles. The service supports features such as multiplayer (both online and local), screen modes including a retro CRT display, and suspend points for an enhanced gameplay experience in these classic games.

The copyright for the SEGA Genesis games belongs to SEGA, while the copyright for the games belonging to Nintendo (2004-2005) and INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS. The music copyright for the SEGA Genesis games belongs to YUZO KOSHIRO.

Recently, several new games have been added to the SEGA Genesis library, including "Super Thunder Blade," "Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones," and "Streets of Rage." Additionally, "ESWAT: City Under Siege" has also been added to the collection.
