LexisNexis Launches Protégé Malaysia AI for Local Legal Efficiency
LexisNexis has introduced Lexis+ AI with Protégé Malaysia, a tailored AI assistant designed for the Malaysian legal system. The launch follows successful rollouts in several countries and aims to enhance efficiency and security in legal practice.
Protégé is grounded in local, trusted sources like the Malayan Law Journal, ensuring relevant and accurate information. It prioritises client confidentiality by encrypting chats and automatically purging data upon log-out. Early testers have commended Protégé's speed, with the AI capable of extracting favourable terms from contracts in mere seconds.
LexisNexis cautions about the pitfalls of relying on generic AI in law, citing instances where lawyers have been misled by AI-generated 'hallucinations' in court. Protégé, however, is designed to streamline tedious tasks such as document analysis, generating visual timelines, suggesting follow-up queries, and securely managing files, all while maintaining accuracy and security.
LexisNexis sees Protégé as a valuable partner for legal professionals in Malaysia, not a replacement. By leveraging local knowledge and robust security features, Protégé aims to transform legal work, making it more efficient and reliable.
