Live commencement of BlockDAG Awakening testnet on September 25 sets stage for showcasing mainnet scalability and integration of global miners, promises efficiency and robustness.
The BlockDAG network is gearing up for its Awakening Testnet, scheduled for September 25. This significant milestone marks a crucial step towards the Mainnet launch in 2025 and positions BlockDAG as one of the most credible proofs of launch in the crypto sector.
During the testnet, the network will fully activate its hybrid DAG + PoW blockchain, capable of processing up to 15,000 transactions per second without congestion. This upgrade will pave the way for BlockDAG to serve as a foundation for Decentralised Finance (DeFi), metaverse economies, and next-generation Web3 tools.
Physical X10, X30, and X100 miners will be integrated directly into the live network, using the Stratum protocol for miner synchronization. The testnet will also feature hardware units being shipped worldwide, validating BlockDAG's ability to support worldwide operations at scale. Thousands of miners have already been distributed across more than 130 countries.
The Awakening Testnet serves as a proof-of-concept, shifting focus from speculation to infrastructure. It includes account abstraction, enabling developers to design user-focused smart contracts with features like gas sponsorship, programmable wallets, and advanced dApps. BlockDAG is also adopting EIP-4337, Ethereum's proposal for advanced 'smart accounts,' to unlock programmable logic for complex applications.
