Luma AI has launched Ray3, a new AI video model now available for free in the Dream Machine app. Ray3 brings enhanced realism and user-friendly controls, marking a significant advancement in AI-generated video technology.
Ray3 offers striking improvements in detail fidelity and realism. It can now represent complex crowds, simulate light interactions, apply motion blur, and maintain consistent character representation. Users can direct movements, objects, and camera control simply by drawing or scribbling on images, eliminating the need for text commands.
Luma AI has also introduced 'Draft Mode' for swift and cost-effective creation of video drafts. These drafts can be converted to 4K HDR quality using the 'Hi-Fi' function. Ray3 generates videos in various color depths, including 10-, 12-, and 16-bit, and supports EXR file exports. Notably, Ray3 has an 'ai detector' capability, enabling it to understand complex instructions and assess its own results.
Developed by Hangzhou-based AI start-up DeepSeek, Ray3 is the first AI video model to generate videos in HDR at studio quality. Unlike Google's Veo 3, Ray3 does not natively generate audio but can convert standard videos (SDR) to HDR.
