Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Policies Boosting Economy, Environment, and Social Welfare
The Maharashtra Cabinet has recently cleared a series of policies and initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth, environmental protection, and social welfare across the state. The policies, which cover a range of sectors, were approved to boost industries, protect the environment, and improve public services.
In a significant move towards a circular economy, the Cabinet approved a policy for wastewater treatment in urban areas of Maharashtra. This policy aims to promote environmental conservation and sustainable resource management.
The Cabinet also approved an electricity subsidy of Rs 3 per unit for private spinning mills under the Integrated and Sustainable Textile Policy, 2023-28. This subsidy is expected to boost the textile industry and create jobs.
Amendments to the Maharashtra Prohibition of Partition of Holding Lands and their Consolidation Act, 1947, were approved to streamline land management and promote agricultural development.
To boost the gems and jewellery sector, the Cabinet approved the State Gems and Jewellery Policy-2025. This policy aims to attract investments of Rs 1 lakh crore and create five lakh jobs. It will be implemented in 424 urban local bodies across the state.
Power loom owners are now required to register on the Textiles Commissionerate portal within six months to avail the electricity subsidy.
The Cabinet also decided to implement the revised In-Service Assured Progress Scheme with two benefits for non-teaching employees of certain ashram schools. This move aims to improve the working conditions of these employees.
To further push slum rehabilitation schemes, the Cabinet approved the implementation of a Slum Cluster Redevelopment Scheme for slum redevelopment in Mumbai.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the provision of 2 hectares 38 acres of land in Mouja Badnera for 30 years to Amravati Municipal Corporation for an e-bus depot and charging system under the PME Bus Scheme.
