New Mahindra Vision SXT: A Rugged, Off-Road-Focused Pickup Concept Unveiled
Mahindra, the Indian automaker, has unveiled a new concept vehicle, the Vision SXT, in August 2025. This rugged pickup truck, with its SUV-like boxy stance and flared wheel arches, is expected to launch in India by late 2027 or early 2028.
The Vision SXT is built on Mahindra's NU IQ platform, which supports internal combustion, hybrid, and electric powertrains. This platform is closely related to the Scorpio-N and Thar platforms, suggesting a shared architecture with these models.
The design of the Vision SXT is inspired by rally-spec vehicles, featuring a black rectangular grille merging with square LED projector headlights and vertical LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) that double as turn indicators. Off-road specific front and rear bumpers with silver skid plates give the vehicle a tough look and protective function. The unique pickup flatbed at the rear has space for two spare tyres mounted openly, secured by matte black trim. Pixel LED taillights and roof-integrated high-mounted stop lamps complete the exterior design.
Other expected features of the Vision SXT include a clamshell hood design, a split tailgate for practicality, and possibly Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and semi-automatic parking. A panoramic sunroof has been rumoured but not confirmed.
The Vision SXT stands out among Mahindra’s recent concepts as a rugged, off-road-focused pickup with a bold, utility-first design. It is different from other upcoming models such as the Mahindra Thar E, Mahindra XEV 7e, Mahindra XUV700 Facelift, BYD Atto 3, Mahindra XEV 9e, or Mahindra BE 07.
A comparison with other Mahindra Vision concepts reveals that the Vision SXT is a pickup truck with SUV elements, while the Vision T is an SUV (next-gen Thar evolution) and the Vision S and Vision X represent more SUV-centric concepts targeting Scorpio lineage and compact SUV segments respectively.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Mahindra Vision SXT as it approaches its expected launch in late 2027 or early 2028.
