Malaysia Aims to Be AI-Driven by 2030 with New Quantum Policy
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim recently chaired a crucial meeting of the National Digital Economy and 4IR Council (MED4IRN). The gathering focused on bolstering digital initiatives and quantum technology, with the aim of making Malaysia an AI-driven nation by 2030.
The meeting endorsed a proposed National Quantum Policy, aligning with Malaysia's ambition to stay competitive and resilient in the face of future tech challenges. This policy follows the example set by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), which played a key role in developing Germany's national quantum technology strategy.
To drive these efforts, a National Quantum Task Force will be established. This body will tackle quantum technology advancements and the looming 'Q-Day' threat. The meeting also discussed the strengthening of 'MyDigital ID' implementation, a vital step towards becoming a fully digital nation.
All ministries and agencies are now required to support and collaborate on 'MyGov Malaysia', further integrating digital solutions across the public sector.
The MED4IRN meeting marked a significant step towards Malaysia's goal of becoming an AI-driven nation by 2030. The endorsed National Quantum Policy and the establishment of the National Quantum Task Force demonstrate the government's commitment to staying ahead in the rapidly evolving tech landscape. With all ministries on board for 'MyGov Malaysia', the nation is poised to embrace digital transformation and enhance its competitiveness.
