Marvel Rivals Rankings Outline: Explanation of Competitive Rewards and Rules for Season 3.5
Marvel Rivals, the popular online multiplayer game, has introduced a host of changes in its Season 3.5 update. The ranked mode, a competitive cornerstone of the game, has received significant improvements aimed at providing a better experience for players.
In the new season, players' ranks will be reset, dropping by nine tiers each time a new season rolls out. This reset offers a fresh start for all players, encouraging them to climb back up the ranks.
The ranked mode now includes new rewards, map rotation, and rule changes. Players can earn exclusive rewards based on their highest rank achieved during the season. For instance, reaching Gold rank now unlocks the Blade – Emerald Blade exclusive costume, while players at Diamond and Platinum ranks earn brand-new Nameplate Frames. Players in Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and Top 500 tiers receive prestigious Crests of Honor.
Players must reach Level 15 to unlock the ranked mode. Those in Bronze, Silver, and Gold ranks can queue for Competitive in any team size except 5-player teams. Players in Platinum, Diamond, and Grandmaster ranks are limited to teams of up to 3 players, while those in Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All ranks are restricted to solo or duo queues only.
The disconnect and penalty system has also been revamped. Matches that become invalid due to a disconnect within the first 70 seconds end with no result recorded. For valid matches, disconnect penalties now scale depending on the timing of the disconnect. If a disconnected teammate does not return and the team wins, no penalty applies to the disconnected player; if the team loses, the disconnected player receives a penalty. Teammates of disconnected players receive ranked-point compensation when their disconnected teammate does not return.
The gameplay and system improvements include PC players benefiting from shader compilation running in the background rather than a mandatory startup wait. Players can now zoom out and use emotes in the team lobby. Unique costume voice and sound effects can be toggled for specific costumes. Enhanced audio cues for stealth characters such as Wolverine and Black Panther help opponents better detect ambush attempts.
Unfortunately, no confirmed changes to the map rotation have been announced in the Season 3.5 ranked system update. However, the following maps are available in ranked: Hellfire Gala: Arakko (convoy), Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands (convoy), Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown (convoy), Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path (convoy), Intergalactic Republic of Wakanda: Hall of Djalia (convergence), Klyntar: Symbiotic Surface (convergence), Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park (convergence), Intergalactic Republic of Wakanda: Birnin T'Challa (domination), Hydra Charteris Base: Hell's Heaven (domination), Hellfire Gala: Krakoa (domination), and Klyntar: Celestial Husk (domination - NEW).
The Top 500 Crest of Honour is a new reward, requiring players to be in the top 500 by the time rewards are handed out. Players need to play at least ten ranked matches to be eligible for rewards in each season.
These changes aim to improve the competitive experience by providing better incentives through rewards, balancing matchmaking fairness across tiers, and reducing the impact of disconnects and toxic behavior in Ranked mode.
