Matrox Video and Pixotope Combine for Improved Virtual Production Experience
Matrox Video Collaborates with Pixotope to Enhance IP Infrastructure for Broadcast Graphics
Matrox Video and Pixotope have partnered to integrate Matrox DSX LE5 network interface cards (NICs) with SMPTE ST 2110 support. This collaboration aims to empower broadcasters with advanced character generation (CG), virtual studio, and augmented reality workflows over IP infrastructure.
Christophe Crespin, OEM sales account manager EMEA at Matrox Video, expressed that the company's commitment to high and open standards significantly contributes to their product development strategy. He explained that the Matrox ST 2110 NICs have been designed to streamline IP integration, allowing developers to focus on delivering value. Furthermore, Crespin praised Pixotope as a prime example of how Matrox technology accelerates IP transformation by alleviating the burden of standards compliance and packet processing from Pixotope's engineering team.
The SMPTE ST 2110 standard is a field-proven and continuously evolving protocol. Matrox ST 2110 network adapters offer a comprehensive solution for building reliable and scalable compute-off-the-shelf (COTS) based IP infrastructures. These adapters support networks with 10 GbE, 25 GbE, and 100 GbE speeds and offload all packet processing necessary for ST 2110-20, ST 2110-30, ST 2110-31, and ST 2110-40, as well as ST 2022-7 redundancy to release system resources.
With this new integration, Pixotope customers can add ST 2110 support to existing or new solutions. This capability enables broadcast CG, virtual studio, and augmented reality workflows over IP infrastructure. Pixotope utilized the Matrox DSX Software Development Kit (SDK) together with the DSX LE5 ST 2110 NICs to hasten development and ensure a precise hardware fit for various project specifications, ensuring guaranteed video over IP performance.
Gideon Ferber, SVP Product at Pixotope, stated that as Video over IP infrastructures present numerous benefits to broadcasters producing live events and to their partners, they decided to incorporate ST-2110 support into their graphic solutions. He explained that Matrox provided the right tools to expedite this transition with flexibility across different project specifications, enabling Pixotope to concentrate on its strengths - democratizing virtual production and empowering content creators.
In summary, the Matrox DSX LE5 NICs' support for SMPTE ST 2110 allows Pixotope's Broadcast CG, Virtual Studio, and Augmented Reality technologies to seamlessly integrate with modern IP broadcast infrastructures. This combination bolsters scalability, flexibility, real-time performance, and future-proofing, facilitating efficient, high-quality production workflows over IP networks that respond to the evolving demands of the broadcast industry.
