Mercedes-AMG CLA EQ: Powerful Electric Sedan Coming in 2025
Mercedes-AMG is set to launch its electric CLA sedan, the CLA EQ, with a high-performance variant expected in 2025. The AMG CLA EQ promises a firmer suspension, less ground clearance, and an active rear wing. Pricing starts at around 70,000 euros, a significant increase from the standard model.
The AMG CLA EQ's grille design remains uncertain but may retain the standard CLA EQ's shape without the distinctive bars. Under the hood, the electric CLA 250+ uses one motor and rear-wheel drive, while the 350 4Matic uses two motors for all-wheel drive, suggesting AMG variants will also have this feature. Mercedes-AMG, a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz, oversees the development of the high-performance electric CLA.
Inside, the AMG CLA EQ is expected to feature sports seats, bold accents, and the new MB.OS operating system. Power-wise, it's expected to exceed the 350 4Matic's 354 hp, potentially reaching over 500 hp. While the range may not match the 350 4Matic's 771 km WLTP, it could offer rapid charging capabilities of up to 320 kW thanks to the 800V MMA platform.
The Mercedes-AMG CLA EQ (2025) is poised to be a powerful addition to the electric vehicle market, combining sporty performance with innovative technology. With a starting price of around 70,000 euros, it's set to be a premium offering in the electric sedan segment.
