Mercedes-AMG's AMG One: Luxury Meets Track Thrills, But Falls Short on Comfort and Practicality

Mercedes-AMG's hypercar, the AMG One, provides a distinctive driving experience with its top-notch interior and exclusive features. Despite its luxurious materials, the car presents some challenges in comfort and practicality.

The AMG One's interior showcases premium materials, mirroring those found in other Mercedes models. However, the bucket seat, while suggesting a feet-up driving position, lacks sufficient lateral and under thigh support. Initiating the engine necessitates the use of standard Sennheiser earpods due to the extreme noise level.

The view out of the windscreen is narrow and somewhat intimidating, but physical door mirrors are present to assist visibility. The car is only available with left-hand drive and features gullwing doors, which require a specific entry process. Despite these peculiarities, the AMG One offers ample elbow room for two individuals.

In terms of technology, the AMG One comes equipped with cruise control and a touchscreen for infotainment. It also includes lap time functions, enabling drivers to track their performance on the track. The steering wheel is fitted with LEDs for gear change warnings and buttons for racecar functions. The seat is moulded into the tub, requiring adjustments for the driving position. There's a clear-lidded stowage cubby between the seats for the key, but no other storage space or boot is available.

The AMG One, produced and branded by Mercedes-AMG, delivers a thrilling driving experience with its high-quality interior and advanced features. However, its lack of comfort in certain areas and limited practicality may pose challenges for daily use.
