Mercedes has finally revealed the SLS AMG Roadster, following much anticipation. The car was initially expected to debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, but will now make its first appearance at the 2011 New York Motor Show in April.

The SLS Roadster was designed to be a convertible from the start, with minimal weight gain due to structural reinforcements. Despite the retractable soft-top, the boot size remains almost unchanged. Mercedes has released official photos of the Roadster ahead of its launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Performance-wise, the SLS Roadster is identical to the Gullwing. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds and reach a top speed of nearly 200 mph. However, the sales start date for the uncovered Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster in Germany remains unknown.
