Meta Launches 'Communities' on Threads for Shared Interests

Meta has rolled out a new feature on Threads, called 'Communities'. These are public spaces where users can connect and engage over shared interests. Currently, over 100 popular topics are being tested, with plans to expand further.

Users can easily join these communities by searching for them by name or tapping on a community tag found on interesting posts. Once joined, these communities appear in users' feeds menu and on their profiles, making their interests visible to others.

Meta is also working on improving the relevance of posts within these communities and the main 'For You' feed by implementing a ranking system. To encourage active participation, the company plans to introduce special badges for active contributors. Each community also has a custom Like emoji to foster a sense of belonging and enhance interactions.

Meta's Communities on Threads are currently in testing with over 100 popular topics. Users can join, engage, and showcase their interests. The company is working on improving post relevance and recognising active contributors.
