Microsoft to Unveil New OneDrive App for Windows 11 on October 8
Microsoft is set to unveil a new dedicated OneDrive app for Windows 11 at a special event on October 8. The app, currently in development, aims to enhance cloud integration and user experience, as per Microsoft's leadership under the Windows development and OneDrive product teams.
The new app, which will be web-based, merges Fluent Design with web design elements. It includes built-in editing tools akin to the Google Photos app, allowing users to manage and edit photos and videos seamlessly. The interface is modern and prioritizes photo and video viewing alongside file management.
One notable feature is 'Moments', which displays a collection of pictures taken on the current day in past years. Users can navigate between different features like Moments, Gallery, Albums, People, and Favorites using buttons in gallery mode.
While the purpose of a dedicated OneDrive app is unclear, given Windows 11's existing OneDrive integration in File Explorer and the Microsoft 365 Photos app, Microsoft's event on October 8 is expected to provide more insights into the app's functionality and benefits for users.
