Mitsubishi Electric Buys Nozomi Networks for $883M to Boost Industrial Cybersecurity

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has announced a significant acquisition, purchasing industrial cybersecurity firm Nozomi Networks for $883 million. The deal, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, underscores the increasing importance of industrial cybersecurity.

Nozomi Networks, specializing in security operational technology (OT) for various industrial sectors, will operate independently as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric. The company will retain its headquarters in San Francisco and R&D operations in Switzerland.

The acquisition aims to accelerate Nozomi's innovation in industrial cybersecurity while maintaining its heterogeneous approach to supporting customers and partners. The two companies have collaborated since Mitsubishi Electric participated in Nozomi's $100 million series E funding round last year. In July 2024, Nozomi launched its Arc Embedded product in Mitsubishi Electric PLCs.

The deal highlights the growing emphasis on industrial cybersecurity due to persistent threats to critical infrastructure. U.S. government agencies have warned about Chinese hackers targeting IT networks used for such infrastructure.

Mitsubishi Electric's acquisition of Nozomi Networks, valued at $883 million, reflects the increasing need for robust industrial cybersecurity. Nozomi will continue to operate independently, maintaining its headquarters and R&D operations, and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025.
