Morocco Strengthens Ties with Onepoint to Launch Groundbreaking Data and AI Center
Morocco Establishes Center of Excellence in Data and Artificial Intelligence
The Onepoint group and the Moroccan government have joined forces to establish a Center of Excellence in Data and Artificial Intelligence (CoE) in Morocco. The new hub, situated in the Casablanca-Settat region, is a significant step towards accelerating Morocco's digital transformation and creating a sovereign innovation ecosystem in data and AI [1][2].
The CoE aligns with Morocco's national digital strategy, "Digital Morocco 2030" (Maroc Digital 2030), which aims to modernize public services, transform industrial SMEs, and train 45,000 tech professionals by 2030. The CoE will contribute to this vision by providing advanced training and skill development, supporting the digitalization of government administration and private sectors, enhancing national technological sovereignty, and positioning Morocco as a regional leader in digital technology [1][2].
At the signing ceremony on July 22, 2025, several high-ranking officials were present, including Minister Amal Al-Falah Al-Sagroshny, Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Mr. Riyadh Mazour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Karim Zidane, Minister Assigned for Investment, Prevention and Public Policy Evaluation, and Mr. Ali Siddiqui, Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Exports Development [3]. Representing Onepoint was its Founder President, Mr. David Layani.
The CoE is expected to create over 500 highly skilled jobs by 2029 and boost Morocco's burgeoning technological dynamism. It aims to become a reference pole for research and development, providing the Kingdom with strategic infrastructure to support the upgrade of public services and facilitate the transformation of the industrial fabric [1][2]. The project involves a wide network of public and private stakeholders, with the goal of attracting further foreign investment and partnerships.
By establishing the CoE, Morocco aims to foster a development model based on collective intelligence, technological mastery, and operational performance. This initiative is part of the government's priorities focused on valuing human capital, digitizing services, and achieving digital sovereignty [4]. The CoE is a critical infrastructure project that supports Digital Morocco 2030’s vision of broad digital transformation, workforce development, and strengthening Morocco’s role in the global and African digital landscapes [1][2][3].
