neu-medianet Expands Network with Harmonic's XGS-PON Fiber Broadband
German broadband provider neu-medianet is set to expand its network this September, introducing XGS-PON fiber broadband services powered by Harmonic's virtual cOS platform. This strategic upgrade aims to deliver multi-gigabit connections across its service area, marking a significant step in the company's long-term growth strategy.
neu-medianet has chosen Harmonic's Open ONT approach, allowing it to avoid vendor lock-in and select customer premises equipment (CPE) devices tailored to its needs. The company is also leveraging Harmonic's cOS platform to overbuild its existing network and expand its DOCSIS footprint, enabling symmetric multi-gigabit broadband services.
To facilitate this deployment, Harmonic's local partner Normann Engineering is supplying components and providing system integration support. neu-medianet is deploying Harmonic's cOS platform with high-density, energy-efficient Pier optical line terminal (OLT) shelves to simplify the fibre service rollout.
neu-medianet's transition to XGS-PON fibre broadband services using Harmonic's cOS virtualised broadband platform is expected to enhance its service offerings and attract more subscribers. This expansion aligns with the company's long-term strategy to grow its business and subscriber base.
