Yangi Secures €10 Million in Series A Funding for Revolutionary Packaging Technology

In a significant development for the packaging industry, Swedish startup Yangi has announced it has secured €10 million in an oversubscribed Series A funding round. The extended investor group includes Industrifonden, Almi Invest GreenTech, Voith, Chanel, FutureLab & Partners, Turret Oy, EQT Ventures, Northzone, and other undisclosed investors.

The funding round was led by venture capital fund Industrifonden, demonstrating their confidence in Yangi's innovative approach to packaging sustainability.

Yangi's flagship product, the Yangi Cellera industrial machine platform, was introduced in February. This machine offers a scalable, renewable alternative to fossil-based plastics, making it a game-changer in the industry.

The company's dry forming technology, designed for industrializing fibre packaging at scale, uses paper fibre in an extremely efficient manner. This technology is the heart of the Yangi Cellera machine, engineered in collaboration with GDM and AP&T.

The first machine has been sold to a European converter, and the first products using Yangi's fibre technology were distributed to Asian customers at the end of 2024.

As global packaging sustainability regulation becomes increasingly important, Yangi's innovative technology aligns perfectly with the upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation in 2025. The company's commitment to sustainability is further highlighted by discussions about the key factors for increasing the use of reusable packaging in supermarkets and top brands' progress on packaging sustainability.

Recent innovations, challenges, and technological advancements in the area of dry moulding fibre technology for packaging were detailed in a podcast interview by editor-at-large Elisabeth Skoda with YUTOECO's Jerome Zhang. The interview provided valuable insights into the future of packaging sustainability.

With the expansion of its investor group and the successful funding round, Yangi is well-positioned to lead the way in sustainable packaging solutions. As the world moves towards a more eco-friendly future, Yangi's innovative technology is poised to make a significant impact.
