Hoppin' onto the Helm: Paul Frampton-Calero Steps Up as Goodway Group's New CEO

Get ready for a new wave at Goodway Group! That's right, everybody, the indie agency powerhouse has a fresh captain at the helm, and we're all aboard the Goodship for a thrilling ride.

The venerable 96-year-old agency, rooted in family values and independence, is presenting a dashing new face: Paul Frampton-Calero, former global CEO of Goodway Group's consultancy arm Overline Consulting. He'll be stepping up to the big chair on Monday, May 12.

Before diving into the deep end of Goodway, Frampton-Calero shone as a guru in the ad and tech firmament, serving as Group CEO of Havas Media Group, CEO of startup Hi Inc., and other leading roles.

As Frampton-Calero bundled up his sea chest to embark on this adventure, he couldn't help but geek out, shouting to ADWEEK, “I'm pumped! The foundations of this family-run, independent business are rock-solid at the moment!"

He's got some exciting plans up his sleeve, including doubling down on Goodway's investment in commerce, consultancy, and AI. Since Goodway's combined consulting and commerce business has grown an impressive 22% over the last year, it's clear he's got a keen eye for growth and innovation.

Replacing the outgoing Jay Friedman, who had helmed Goodway for nearly two decades, becomes Frampton-Calero's new mission. In Friedman's tenure, Goodway ascended from a humble print marketing agency to an international giant, tending to the needs of giants like Mars, Ulta, the New York Jets, and Dollar General, to name just a few.

Friedman will continue to lend his sage wisdom to the Goodway family in an advisory capacity, focusing on nurturing future strategies, AI, mentorship, and industry connections. "I basically handing over the reins to Paul," Friedman said. "He has a fantastic knack for peering into the future, and he's terrific at rallying the troops and uniting everyone."

Raising Goodway's Profile

Frampton-Calero has his sights set on more than just deepening Goodway's core practice areas of commerce, AI, and consulting; he wants to catapult Goodway into the limelight.

Over the past few years, the agency has shaped up, scaling significantly and boosting its revenue by a staggering 25x, according to Friedman. The last couple of years have seen Goodway snagging big acquisitions like Tuff, a performance marketing agency, and Canton Marketing Solutions, a consultancy powerhouse.

While Goodway Group has definitely made a name for itself in adtech circles, Frampton-Calero reckons it's time to expand its popular support beyond that. "It's time for us to shout from the rooftops and get ourselves a bit more visible in the market," he says.

To achieve this grand ambition, Frampton-Calero plans to keep Goodway's client-first mindset and unleash its full potential outside the shackles of larger holding companies. "The freedom to put clients first is liberating, especially when you're part of the indie family," he says. "Here, we can be honest, even when the honest truth stings a bit."

Keep Your Eyes on the Prize, Goodway

Frampton-Calero dreams of leading Goodway Group into its second century of business, carving out a firm foothold in the market. His heart's desire? To look back on Goodway's 100th birthday and exclaim, "Check out what we accomplished!"

Hot on the heels of Goodway's latest leadership shakeup, the appointment of Ante Lisnic as the CFO, this dynamic duo is set to chart a bold, client-centric course for the upcoming future. Buckle up, folks, it's gonna be one heck of a ride!
