In the world of luxury yachting, Silent Yachts has made a significant leap forward with the launch of its new flagship, the SY80. This 80-foot solar-electric catamaran, developed in Italy, promises a sustainable and long-range cruising experience like no other.
### Specifications
The SY80, measuring approximately 24.38 meters (80 feet) in length, boasts a vast open-plan interior that can accommodate up to 12 guests, depending on the chosen layout. Powered by a fully solar-electric system, the yacht offers a cruising speed of between 7 and 8 knots and a top speed of 12 knots.
The solar array installed on the SY80 can generate up to 22.4 kWp of clean power, while the battery bank has a capacity of up to 696 kWh, providing ample energy for extended journeys. The yacht also offers options between 522 to 696 kWh of battery capacity.
### Design and Layout Features
The exterior styling and interior design of the SY80 have been expertly crafted by Marco Casali - Too Design, with naval architecture by MICAD. The yacht is available in three versions: SY80 Flybridge, SY80 Open, and SY80 Closed, each offering high customization to suit the owner's preferences.
The flexible layout options include a full-beam on-deck master cabin or an open-plan main saloon with the master suite below. The exterior space offers increased area for lounging and al fresco dining, plus concealed storage for water toys and tender garage.
Features such as a panoramic saloon and 360-degree helm station can be found on some models, enhancing the living comfort onboard. The yacht's emphasis on sustainability is evident in its fully solar-powered capabilities, allowing it to cruise up to 100 miles per day on solar energy alone without fuel consumption or emissions.

The economic turmoil caused by the pandemic significantly affected Silent Yachts, but the company has since experienced tremendous growth since its founding in 2019. New CEO Fabrizio Iarrera has led the charge, with a strong pipeline of orders and a fresh five-year growth strategy in place.
Two SY80 cats have already been sold, each featuring a three-deck layout with four guest cabins.
