Next-generation polyphonic tuning device introduced by TC Electronic: PolyTune 3

TC Electronic has announced the release of its latest innovation, the PolyTune 3 – a versatile and dependable tuner pedal that combines the convenience of polyphonic tuning with advanced buffering technology.

The PolyTune 3, the successor to TC Electronic's renowned PolyTune series, offers several key features designed to cater to the needs of guitarists in both live and studio settings.

One of the standout features of the PolyTune 3 is its polyphonic tuning capability, which allows users to strum all their guitar strings at once and see instantly which are out of tune. This feature significantly speeds up the tuning process for live performance or practice.

In addition to polyphonic tuning, the PolyTune 3 also offers fast chromatic tuning with 0.5 cent accuracy and a high-precision strobe mode with ±0.02 cent accuracy, ideal for studio recording and situations demanding exact intonation.

Another innovative feature of the PolyTune 3 is its integrated BonaFide Buffer, which preserves tone and signal strength, especially over long cable runs or complex pedalboards, preventing tone loss and signal degradation.

The PolyTune 3 also boasts an "always on" mode that keeps pitch detection active even when the pedal is not muted, allowing for continuous monitoring of tuning during silent or ambient moments in a set. The super-bright 109-LED display automatically adjusts to ambient lighting conditions, ensuring visibility in any environment.

Users can alternate between true bypass and buffered output, tailoring the pedal's behavior to specific rig requirements. The compact and rugged design, weighing 160g and measuring 51 x 45 x 93 mm, makes the PolyTune 3 ideal for stage use.

The PolyTune 3 retains the super-bright LED display from previous models and supports PolyTune® simultaneous tuning. It requires an external 9V DC power supply (not included) and does not run on batteries.

The PolyTune 3 is priced at $99 US / €99 EU and is available worldwide from May 2017. For more information, visit TCElectronic.com.

The original PolyTune, released in 2010, was the first tuner to offer polyphonic tuning – an innovation that set a new standard for guitar tuners. The PolyTune 3 builds on this legacy by incorporating a built-in, all-analog BonaFide Buffer, addressing a common pain point for guitarists with large pedalboards or long cable runs.

The PolyTune 3 also features automatic mode switching, which intelligently detects whether you are strumming (polyphonic mode) or picking a single string (chromatic/strobe mode), streamlining the tuning process. The ability to keep pitch detection enabled without muting is a unique feature for convenient, real-time tuning checks.

With its advanced features, user-friendly interface, and rugged design, the PolyTune 3 is one of the most versatile and dependable tuners for both live and studio use.

The PolyTune 3, a recent release from TC Electronic, houses an integrated BonaFide Buffer, a gadget that preserves the tone and signal strength of guitar signals, especially in complex pedalboard setups or long cable runs. This ingenious tuner pedal, with its super-bright LED display, also features automobile mode switching, allowing it to intelligently detect whether strings are being strummed or picked so it can switch between polyphonic and chromatic/strobe modes accordingly. In addition, it offers several gadgets from technology such as polyphonic tuning and high-precision strobe mode, making it a versatile and dependable tuning solution for both live and studio guitarists.
