NIO's Onvo Brand Announces Updates for Popular L60 SUV

NIO Inc's sub-brand, Onvo, has announced updates for its L60 SUV, a model that has been on the market for a year and has seen significant success. The L60 was launched on September 19, 2023, with the aim of competing with models like Tesla's Model Y.

The L60 has proven to be a popular choice among buyers of pure electric vehicles, ranking among the top three in sales since its launch. Onvo delivered a record 16,434 vehicles in August, with 5,859 of those being L60s.

The updates to the L60 are aimed at improving its performance, but further details about the changes have not been disclosed. However, a spy photo of an alleged updated L60 has been circulating on Chinese social media, suggesting that the exterior may remain largely unchanged.

The updated L60 will reportedly come with added features such as rear seat ventilation and a new gold paint option, according to Onvo president Shen Fei. The starting price for the L60, including the battery pack, is RMB 206,900. Under the BaaS plan, its starting price is RMB 149,900.

The L60 features a lightweight body, a 900-volt high-voltage system, convenient battery swap and charging experience, and safety features. It has delivered over 65,000 units cumulatively since its launch. Onvo published an article about the L60's performance over the past year on its official WeChat account.

Onvo also launched its second model, the L90, on July 31. Deliveries of the L90 began on August 1, and the starting price for the L90, including the battery pack, is RMB 265,800. Under the BaaS plan, its starting price is RMB 179,800.

Onvo launched its brand on May 15, 2024. In August, cumulative L60 deliveries reached 64,458 units. Onvo president Shen Fei shared a video showing Nio factory operating around the clock to ship L90 SUVs.

The L60's success is evident in its strong sales figures and its ability to compete with established brands in the electric vehicle market. As Onvo continues to update and improve its models, it will be interesting to see how the L60's sales perform in the coming months.
