Nissan and Octopus Energy Launch Revolutionary Charging App

Nissan and Octopus Energy have joined forces to revolutionise electric vehicle (EV) charging with the launch of the Nissan Charge app. This innovative app, powered by Octopus' Electroverse platform, is part of Nissan's mission to make electric driving seamless and accessible.

The Nissan Charge app offers a multitude of features designed to deliver a smart charging experience. It provides quick, hassle-free payments and money-saving discounts through participating networks. The app identifies real-time availability of charge points, allowing drivers to find a charging station easily. It also offers access to over a million charge points across Europe, providing convenience for EV drivers on the go.

One of the standout features of the Nissan Charge app is its ability to filter by charging speed and plug type. This means that drivers can find a charging station that suits their needs, whether they're in a hurry or need a slower charge. The app also offers dynamic pricing insights, helping drivers to optimise their charging costs.

In the future, the Nissan Charge app will include Plug & Charge (PnC) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. Plug & Charge will enable drivers to link their car to their account and simply plug in to charge without needing to activate the session via an app or card, making charging seamless and secure. Vehicle-to-Grid technology will allow EV owners to reduce home charging costs by using their car battery to support grid stabilisation and feed energy back to the grid when needed.

The Nissan Charge app lays the foundation for EVs to play an active role in the energy system of tomorrow. It is an important step in the integration of other brands' charging apps with Octopus Electroverse's technology, paving the way for a more connected and efficient EV charging network.

With the Nissan Charge app, Nissan is taking a significant step towards integrating public charging into its energy and mobility platform. This app is set to redefine the EV charging experience, making it more convenient, cost-effective, and seamless for drivers across Europe.
