NVIDIA's RTX Remix Modding Platform Celebrates First Major Contest
NVIDIA's RTX Remix modding platform has concluded its first major contest, celebrating the creativity of modders who breathed new life into classic PC games using cutting-edge path tracing. The contest, a collaboration between NVIDIA and ModDB, saw 24 submissions vying for a share of a $50,000 prize pool.
Among the winners, Painkiller RTX Remix by Merry Pencil Studios stood out, scooping both the Best Overall RTX Remix Mod and Best Use of RTX In A Mod categories. This impressive mod, set in a dark fantasy world, received a total of $40,000 in cash prizes and 6 months of GeForce NOW Ultimate. Another standout was Call of Duty 2 RTX Remix of Carentan by tadpole3159, which won the Community Choice RTX Mod category, earning a $10,000 cash prize and 6 months of GeForce NOW Ultimate.
Since its launch, RTX Remix has fostered over 237 active projects and seen the release of over 100 mods, with popular titles like Half-Life 2, Need for Speed Underground, Portal 2, and Deus Ex getting the RTX treatment. These mods have been downloaded over 2 million times, testament to the platform's growing popularity.
