Introducing the Oboz Katabatic LT: Eco-Friendly Hiking Shoes for Spring 2025
The outdoor enthusiast's new favourite is here – the Oboz Katabatic LT. This mid-height shoe, part of the #truetothetrail series, is engineered for speed, comfort, durability, and performance on speedy day hikes and fast & light overnight trips.
Oboz has teamed up with GORE engineers to create the Katabatic LT collection, which features the innovative GORE-TEX Invisible Fit technology. This technology provides a true fit, feel, and comfort, similar to non-waterproof models, while guaranteeing to keep the user dry.
The Katabatic LT collection boasts a lightweight construction, with an ACT Energy midsole using 15% Bio-based EVA for responsive, energized cushioning. It's 20% lighter than its predecessors, making it perfect for those who value speed and efficiency on their adventures.
The uppers of all Katabatic LT models are made with abrasion-resistant and breathable 100% recycled polyester. This eco-friendly choice is combined with TPU hotmelt overlays for added durability. The reinforced heel and toe caps are constructed with about 70% bio-based and recycled materials, ensuring both sustainability and superior foot protection.
The Katabatic LT collection also features welded TPU around the toe cap and heel counter for further foot protection and stability. The insole uses Ortholite ECO, made with 12% plant-derived bio-oil and 5% recycled rubber, providing all-day comfort.
The shoes' outsole is made with Trail Tread Eco rubber, featuring 5 mm multidirectional lugs for excellent traction on varied terrain. The durable rock plate offers midfoot-to-forefoot protection and torsional stability. The 8 mm heel-to-toe drop provides a balance of support and performance.
The Katabatic LT collection also offers removable footbeds for customization, perforated foam tongues to enhance breathability and all-day comfort, and gender-specific lasts for a refined anatomical fit. They are available in standard and wide widths to accommodate different foot volumes.
Weighing approximately 11.8 ounces (half pair), these shoes are light for hiking shoes. The GORE-TEX Invisible Fit technology ensures waterproof breathability, keeping feet dry in wet and muddy conditions.
