Panasonic's €320M Czech Factory Expansion Boosts Heat Pump Production, Aims for Carbon Neutrality

Panasonic has inaugurated an expanded and upgraded factory in Pilsen, Czech Republic, with an investment of €320 million. The site, now serving as the primary European production and R&D hub for air-to-water heat pump solutions, is part of Panasonic's 'Green Impact' strategy to reduce carbon emissions.

The upgraded factory, covering 102,000sqm, includes a newly constructed building, boosting production capacity by 250%. By 2030, the annual production capacity is set to reach 1.4 million units.

Panasonic is enhancing its production capabilities by increasing in-house manufacturing of key components to around 70%. General manager Tetsumasa Mizuta confirmed that production is on track to more than double compared to 2024. The Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala praised the investment, stating it strengthens the competitiveness of Czech industry and will create new skilled jobs.

Panasonic's Pilsen factory aims for carbon neutrality by 2050 and zero CO2 emissions by the end of 2025. The expansion aligns with Panasonic's commitment to supporting Europe's energy transition and reducing its environmental impact.
