Polestar Unveils Digital Rearview Mirror for Enhanced Safety and Comfort
Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer Polestar has unveiled a groundbreaking feature in its latest models: a digital rearview mirror. This innovation replaces the traditional graphic design with a high-tech display, offering enhanced safety and comfort to drivers and passengers.
The digital rearview mirror, first showcased in the Polestar Precept, uses a 2.5-megapixel camera with a 121-degree field of view to transmit real-time images to an 8.9-inch HD display in the cabin. This provides drivers with a wider view of the rear, improving visibility, especially in poor lighting or rainy conditions.
The absence of a traditional graphic design creates a more spacious and luxurious backseat experience. The digital mirror can be toggled to function as a traditional mirror, ensuring visibility of the vehicle's rear when needed. This innovative feature combines improved safety with increased passenger comfort, reflecting Polestar's commitment to innovative design and technology.
Polestar's digital rearview mirror marks a significant departure from the century-old design of traditional mirrors. Inspired by the spirit of early 20th-century racers who pioneered the use of graphic design, this innovation demonstrates Polestar's dedication to pushing the boundaries of automotive design and technology.
