Polestar Unveils Digital Rearview Mirror in Polestar 4

Polestar, the electric vehicle arm of Volvo, has unveiled a significant automotive innovation: a digital rearview mirror. This marks a departure from the traditional rearview mirror, which has remained largely unchanged since the early 20th century.

The new digital rearview mirror, debuting in the Polestar 4, offers several advantages. It eliminates the need for a rear window, creating more space and enhancing comfort and luxury in the rear seats. The mirror mode, activated by a simple switch, provides a clear picture of the rear view, even in poor driving conditions.

The technology behind this innovation is impressive. A 2.5-megapixel camera with a 121-degree field of view captures real-time information, which is then displayed on the cabin's screen. This wide field of view allows drivers to see more of the road behind them, improving safety. The digital rearview mirror in the Polestar 4 has been tested at Hällered Proving Ground in Sweden, including in wet conditions, ensuring its reliability and performance.

Polestar's digital rearview mirror, first seen in the Polestar Precept concept car, is now a reality in the Polestar 4. This innovation not only improves safety and comfort but also allows car designers to explore new vehicle designs. While details about its introduction in other models are yet to be announced, this automotive advancement is a significant step towards the future of driving.
