Police Station in Darmstadt Removes Registration Requirement for Bike parking Code Access
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Hesse State Police Headquarters in Darmstadt is organising a bike coding event aimed at providing additional security for bicycles and e-scooters, which are increasingly becoming targets for criminals. The event will take place at the 1st Police Station, located at Bismarckstraße 16, 64293 Darmstadt, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
To participate, bike and e-scooter owners should bring personal data, information about their vehicle (manufacturer, type, and frame number), an identification document, and proof of ownership. For e-bikes and pedelecs, owners should also bring their battery keys. Carbon bikes are not suitable for the coding process.
Removing accessories from the middle frame beforehand is recommended to avoid waiting times. The coding process involves encoding specific information into the bike or e-scooter to make it easier for the police to identify and recover in case of theft. Using a sturdy lock, possibly a GPS tracker, and locking the bike or e-scooter correctly are also recommended for added security.
Bernd Hochstädter can be reached at 06151 / 969 - 13110 or 0172 / 309 7857 for more information. For further inquiries, the Hesse State Police Headquarters Press Office can be contacted at Klappacher Straße 14, 64285 Darmstadt, or via email at [email protected].
The Hesse State Police Headquarters in Darmstadt is encouraging bike and e-scooter owners to take advantage of this free service to protect their vehicles and enjoy peace of mind. The event is open to all, so mark your calendars and join us on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the 1st Police Station in Darmstadt.
