Porsche 911 GT3 Drops Manual for PDK Automatic, Gains 4.0L Engine
Porsche enthusiasts may raise eyebrows, but the iconic 911 GT3 is embracing the future with a PDK automatic gearbox. The next generation, the 991 GT3, will not include eco or hybrid features, sticking to its performance roots.
The decision to swap the manual gearbox for a PDK automatic in the 991 GT3 was made by Porsche's engineering and design teams, in collaboration with the company's management. The PDK offers quicker gear changes, better control, acceleration, and even improved economy compared to its manual counterpart.
The 991 GT3 will also benefit from a 4.0-litre version of Porsche's latest 9A1 flat-six engine. To enhance weight distribution, the engine has been moved forward slightly.
The 991 Porsche 911 GT3 will arrive with a PDK automatic gearbox and a powerful 4.0-litre engine. While purists may mourn the loss of the manual option, Porsche's focus on performance and innovation promises an exciting driving experience.
