Potential Replacement for Daily Mouse: Corsair MMO Mouse Reviewed

In a significant development for gamers seeking a superior MMO mouse experience, Corsair has unveiled the Scimitar Elite Wireless SE. The latest iteration of the Scimitar series boasts several improvements making it a compelling upgrade for users, especially those who frequently engage in multiplayer online games like Final Fantasy XIV.

At Computex, Corsair demonstrated the Scimitar Elite Wireless SE using Final Fantasy XIV as one of the test games, sparking interest among attendees. For this journalist, who is known in our office for running Final Fantasy as a test game on various devices, the mouse seemed promising from the outset. However, it's the extensive list of upgrades that sets this version apart from its predecessors.

Key features include 16 customizable buttons, an adjustable key slider for optimal positioning, and support for Corsair's StreamDeck functionality. These additions, coupled with a 33,000 DPI optical sensor, increase precision and performance significantly.

One of the most notable improvements is the Scimitar Elite Wireless SE's fully wireless capability, offering up to 150 hours of battery life. For users who prefer a more wired connection, a 1.8m braided fiber charge cable is included. The mouse can also be customized using Corsair's iCUE interface or the new online Firmware Update Utility, providing a streamlined setup experience.

However, the Scimitar Elite Wireless SE's pièce de résistance is its compatibility with Elgato's Stream Deck software. Users can map Stream Deck actions directly to the side buttons, allowing for better control over streaming workflows without needing a separate Stream Deck device.

Preliminary testing indicates that the Scimitar Elite Wireless SE is easy to use out of the box, but further hands-on evaluation is necessary to confirm this. Currently, the mouse is available for purchase for $139 from Corsair and Best Buy, offering an intriguing alternative to the Razer Naga V2 for MMO enthusiasts.

In summary, the Corsair Scimitar Elite Wireless SE offers several advantages over its predecessors, including native Stream Deck integration, enhanced sensor capabilities, improved battery life, a customizable button layout, and wireless connectivity. These features make the Scimitar Elite Wireless SE an attractive option for those seeking a versatile device suitable for gaming, productivity, and streaming applications.
