Process Mining Revolutionizes Automotive Industry Supply Chains

Process mining is transforming the automotive industry, with giants like Volkswagen and BMW harnessing its power to streamline supply chain processes and boost efficiency, especially during the shift to electric vehicles. This technology is set to take centre stage at upcoming industry conferences.

Volkswagen, in collaboration with Celonis, is using process mining to create a digital twin of critical production processes. This helps identify bottlenecks and optimise workflows. Volkswagen's Industrial Cloud further enhances this by interconnecting all factories and the global supply chain, enabling swift data exchange and issue resolution.

BMW has been at the forefront of process mining adoption since 2016. By automating over 1,100 processes and creating over 450 data models, the company has significantly improved its supply chain performance. Volkswagen is not alone in its tech partnerships; it works with SAP for optimisation solutions and battery technology companies like Gotion, CATL, and SVOLT to enhance its electric vehicle supply chain.

Gestamp is another key player revolutionising automotive supply chain management through advanced Industry 4.0 strategies, focusing on federated networks and superior data quality. Meanwhile, Jaguar Land Rover is building a new digital landscape based on modular and connected IT infrastructure.

Process mining's role in automotive supply chain optimisation will be a key topic at the Automotive Logistics and Supply Chain Digital Strategies North America conference in Nashville on June 26-27. Experts from Celonis and Volkswagen will also discuss process-led supply chain transformation at the Automotive Logistics Livestream event on April 25. As the industry moves towards electric vehicles, these technologies promise to drive resilience and efficiency in the supply chain.
