Qube Acquires Mirrat Terminal in Australia for AUD 332.5 Million

Qube, a significant logistics company, has procured the Mirrat terminal in Australia from Wallenius Wilhelmsen (WW) for AUD 332.5 million. The transaction, slated to finalize in the fourth quarter, allows Qube to broaden its presence in the region.

The Mirrat terminal, spanning 187,000 sq.m, features three berths, 14,500 car slots, two vehicle washing bays, and a 120-tonne gantry crane. It commenced operations in 2016 and provides dedicated inspection zones. Qube, operating in over 200 locations across Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia, secured the terminal through its subsidiary, Australian Amalgamated Terminals.

Lasse Kristoffersen, WW's CEO, views the sale as a testament to the value generated in their logistics business. WW, undeterred, has commissioned four more next-generation Shaper Class pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) vessels, adding to its existing order of four. In 2021, WW enhanced its services by acquiring Syngin Technology, an online marketplace for vehicle distribution.

The sale, anticipated to close in the fourth quarter, will not impact WW's services to customers. Qube, with this acquisition, fortifies its position in the Australian market, further expanding its extensive network across the region.
