Quick charging will cost 0.39 euros per kilowatt-hour by the end of September, according to Electra.
Electra Expands Fast-Charging Network in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
Electra, a leading fast-charging provider, is rapidly expanding its network in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, starting August 13th, 2022. This expansion is backed by a €433 million green loan aimed at building a dense network of ultra-fast EV charging stations in these countries and others in Europe.
The company currently operates over 500 locations with more than 3,000 charging points in nine European countries, including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Electra plans to increase this to 700 stations by the end of 2025 and ultimately 2,200 stations by 2030, featuring around 15,000 high-power charging points. These charging stations will be strategically located in urban areas, transit hubs, business districts, and major traffic routes.
Regarding pricing, Electra has launched a temporary summer promotion in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), offering DC fast charging at €0.39 or CHF 0.39 per kilowatt-hour via the Electra app. This considerably reduces the standard charging price in Germany from around €0.59/kWh down to €0.39/kWh when using the app. Without app registration, charging costs €0.69/kWh, so the app-based pricing represents a substantial saving.
The strategic placement of charging hubs includes major urban hubs such as Gräfelfing near Munich and Dortmund in Germany. Many more locations are set to follow in the coming months as part of Electra's expansion in Germany.
Electra integrates innovative features at stations, like additional masts between hyperchargers to provide nighttime illumination and visible occupancy indicators from a distance, enhancing user experience and accessibility.
The Electra summer offer in the DACH region includes charging hubs located at shopping centers, hotels, and transportation hubs. This offer aims to provide real added value for travelers, especially along popular holiday routes.
