Reduced Monthly Cost for New American Clients on SpaceX's Starlink Satellite Internet Service
Starlink, the satellite internet service provider by SpaceX, is currently offering a 12-month discounted service combined with a 50% discount on its Standard Kit (satellite dish, modem, cables, Wi-Fi router) in various countries, including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
In Canada, the Standard Kit now costs $249 CAD (down from $499), and the monthly price for the Residential plan is reduced to $115 CAD (from $140 CAD). Similar discounts apply in Australia and New Zealand, though the exact monthly rates depend on local pricing.
This discount offer is available for new customers only, applies to one service line per customer, and requires no long-term contract, but the reduced prices last only for one year from activation.
Regarding allowing multiple subscribers to share a single Starlink dish, there is mention of a potential "community deal" that might let neighbors share the cost (and presumably a dish), but as of August 2025, this feature or official multi-user sharing plan has not yet been broadly implemented. Starlink continues to grow coverage and manage capacity limits in various regions, but no firm timeline for official multi-subscriber sharing on one dish has been announced in the current sources.
Competition in the satellite internet space is intensifying, suggesting SpaceX is pushing to grow its user base in key markets. This move comes after Starlink's U.S. customer base has grown to over 2 million, nearly doubling since 2022, and its median download speeds in the U.S. have nearly doubled since 2022 as well.
SpaceX is also offering new Starlink customers in the U.S. a discount on monthly fees for the Residential plan, reducing it to $99 per month from $120. Similar monthly fee discounts for new sign-ups have been spotted in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
In addition, SpaceX surprised select existing subscribers worldwide with a 20% discount on their monthly bill for six months. The hardware discount is available through Starlink.com, Walmart, and Best Buy.
