Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e Electric Cars Now More Affordable in Australia
Good news for electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts in Australia! The Fiat 500e La Prima and Abarth 500e Scorpionissima are now available at reduced prices.
The Fiat 500e La Prima, a compact electric city hatchback, can now be purchased for a drive-away price of $38,990. This represents a significant discount of nearly $20,000 from its previous price of around $52,500 before on-road costs. The performance-oriented Abarth 500e Scorpionissima is also available at a reduced price of $43,990 drive-away, a discount of over $16,000 from its original price.
Both models come equipped with a front-mounted electric motor producing 87 kW of power and 220 Nm of torque, paired with a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery. This setup delivers an official WLTP range of up to 311 km. The 500e can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in around 9 seconds, while the Abarth 500e, with its sportier performance, can do the same in just 7 seconds. Both models support 85 kW DC fast charging, enabling an 80% charge in about 35 minutes.
The Fiat 500e measures approximately 3.63 meters in length and offers up to 550 liters of boot space with the rear seats folded. This makes it a practical urban electric hatch. The current pricing and offers are available until September 30, 2025, or while stocks last.
These price cuts position the Fiat 500e models competitively against other affordable EVs in Australia, such as the BYD Dolphin, GWM Ora, and MG4.
Riz Akhtar, a mechanical engineer and the founder of carloop, a company specialising in Australian EV data, insight reports, and trends, expressed his enthusiasm for these developments. Akhtar, who currently drives a red Tesla Model 3, is passionate about cars, particularly EVs, and wants to help reduce transport emissions in Australia.
The Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e are part of a growing trend of small niche EV models that are expected to see price reductions in the coming months due to increased competition in the EV market.
