Review of Asus ProArt PA32QCV 6K Professional Monitor: Abundance of Pixels, Color, and Luminance
The Asus ProArt PA32QCV is a 32-inch 6K monitor, offering a resolution of 6016x3384 and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. This monitor stands out with its impressive specifications and numerous convenience features.
Weighing in at 20.5 pounds (9.3kg), the PA32QCV is equipped with KVM, USB ports, two Thunderbolt inputs, and an ambient light sensor. Its inputs include one each of DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1, two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, and USB 3.2.
The monitor's panel dimensions, with the base, measure 28.1 x 19-24.2 x 9.5 inches (714 x 483-615 x 241mm), and it is 1.8 inches (46mm) thick. The bezel width is 0.28 inch (7mm) for the top and sides and 0.67 inch (17mm) for the bottom.
The PA32QCV offers PIP and PBP options for viewing multiple video inputs at once. It employs LuxPixel technology to improve image quality by reducing reflections and visible pixel structure, resulting in a crisply saturated image with no visible pixel structure and a complete lack of reflections from ambient light.
The monitor includes FreeSync and G-Sync compatibility, Adaptive-Sync in the Settings menu under the heading MediaSync, and multiple luminance curves and OSD calibration controls for HDR modes. It also features an IPS panel with over 1,600:1 native contrast and a peak brightness of 600 nits for SDR and HDR.
The PA32QCV's HDR rating is VESA DisplayHDR 600. It has three luminance curves in HDR mode, called PQ (Perceptual Quantization). The monitor's HDR10 mode has three possible PQ curves.
The stand is solid and adjustable for tilt, height, swivel, and rotation. Asus also makes a desk clamp available that interfaces with the upright. The monitor's packaging is fully recyclable and assembles without tools.
The monitor maintains Asus' ProArt styling with a super-thin, flush bezel and a premium feel. The monitor's panel is a bit thinner than other 32-inch monitors at 1.8 inches deep.
The monitor's cable bundle includes IEC power, HDMI, and Thunderbolt/USB-C, and it also comes with a small microfibre cleaning cloth. It has two integrated 2w speakers, one HDMI 2.1, two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC, 3.5mm headphone output, and USB 3.2 (1 up, 3 down).
The monitor does not have a whole array Mini LED with local dimming. However, it does feature Dynamic Dimming, a field dimming feature on the PA32QCV that doubles contrast for SDR content and takes HDR's range from 1,600:1 to almost 10,000:1.
The monitor's OSD is extensive and includes color modes, calibration controls, HDR options, KVM, Asus QuickFit, and other convenience features. The monitor's grayscale tracking was slightly less precise than other ProArt displays in the review. It supports 10-bit color depth and DCI-P3 color gamut.
Despite its capabilities, the PA32QCV is not suitable for fast-motion gaming due to its 60 Hz refresh rate. It can be used for gaming but is limited to 60 Hz and does not support Dolby Vision. The monitor comes with a 3-year warranty.
Overall, the Asus ProArt PA32QCV is a high-quality 6K monitor with LuxPixel technology and a range of convenient features, making it an excellent choice for professionals in video production and graphic design.
