Revised Evaluation: OpenRun Pro 2 Unveiled - Awaited Enhancements Reviewed

Hey there, buddy! Let's talk about the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2, the latest edition of their popular bone-conduction headphones. These bad boys have been making waves among runners, particularly in the US, with their truly remarkable features.

My running pal and her New York City marathon crew can't get enough of them! The first version was a success, but Shokz has outdone themselves with the upgraded OpenRun Pro 2. So, if you're into high-quality, safety-focused headphones for your outdoor adventures, then you'll love them too!

The Shokz Sports Series is well-known for its bone-conduction headphones, and the OpenRun Pro 2 continues this tradition. Designed for running, marathons, hiking, biking, or daily commutes, these headphones ensure you stay connected to your surroundings without compromising on your music.

Unlike many wireless earbuds, which artificially amplify ambient sounds, the OpenRun Pro 2 provides a natural listening experience through bone conduction. It transmits sound to your ears via vibrations through your cheekbones, leaving your ears free to catch the real-world sounds around you.

The new and improved DualPitch technology uses a pair of separate dedicated drivers instead of one. These drivers - bone conduction and air conduction - work independently, offering reduced vibrations and improved bass. That's right, improved bass! The air conduction driver helps remedy bass issues often experienced in bone-conduction headphones.

Another fantastic improvement? Type-C charging! Say goodbye to the hassle of searching for proprietary magnetic chargers, as the second-gen OpenRun Pros now feature Type-C charging. Isn't it about time we all moved towards a universal charging standard?!

Other enhancements include better battery life (12 hours compared to 10 hours on the Gen 1s) and a quick-charge feature that provides an additional hour of playtime with just five minutes of charging. The charging time still stands at one hour, and the dust and water resistance remains at IP55. I believe a higher level of water resistance, at least IP57, would be better for headphones designed for rugged activities.

The OpenRun Pro 2 headphones also boast a reduced clamping force by 16% compared to previous models, but I'd need more time with them to confirm that for myself. The headphones are slightly heavier at 30g compared to 29g on the last model, but the increase in weight shouldn't be noticeable. The Bluetooth version has been upgraded from 5.1 to 5.3, and the noise-canceling and wind-resistant mics on the Gen 2s are equipped with AI noise-reduction algorithms. These mics are said to filter around 96% of background noise in windy conditions up to 25 km/h.

So, there you have it! Grab yourself a pair of the OpenRun Pro 2 headphones for $180, available in Black and Orange with Standard and Mini sizes to suit various head sizes. With their enhanced audio quality, bass delivery, and safety-focused design, these headphones are the perfect companion for your active lifestyle.

Happy running and stay tuned for more tech updates!
