Roborock Saros 10 Evaluation: Outperformed by Its Identical Brother
Roborock Introduces the Saros 10 and Saros 10R: Flagship Robo-Vacuum/Mops
Roborock, a leading manufacturer of robotic vacuum cleaners, has unveiled its new flagship models, the Saros 10 and the Saros 10R. Announced at the beginning of the year, these innovative devices aim to revolutionise the cleaning industry.
Saros 10: Deep-Cleaning Specialist
The Saros 10 is designed as a deep-cleaning specialist with class-leading suction power of 22,000Pa. It boasts best-in-class suction, the ability to climb over some obstacles, and a self-cleaning dock. However, it has room for improvement in obstacle avoidance and can be noisy. Its mopping issue lies in its vibrating mop pad that cannot extend outward, limiting its cleaning ability to areas directly under the robot.
Saros 10R: Superior Mopping Performance
The Saros 10R, on the other hand, offers superior mopping features. It is equipped with dual spinning mop heads, an extending mop head, and the ability to lift mop pads automatically when on carpets or leave mop pads at the base station while vacuuming. Its dock station can wash and dry the mop pads using hot water and heated air, keeping them cleaner and fresher for longer.
The Saros 10R's advanced cleaning system, featuring vibrating and spinning mop heads, improves stain removal and floor scrubbing. Its software also recognises floor types to lift mop pads automatically, ensuring a more efficient clean. Additionally, the Saros 10R has a larger detergent capacity for mopping liquid, providing a more convenient mopping experience.
Setting Up the Saros 10 and Saros 10R
Setting up the Saros 10 and Saros 10R is straightforward. Users simply need to scan a QR code within the Roborock app for pairing and mapping. The mapping process takes approximately 10 minutes for a one-bedroom apartment, but may require some editing due to mirrors on closet doors.
Design and Performance
The Saros 10's dock is available in black or white. The robot itself is louder than the Qrevo Curv, both while vacuuming and during self-cleaning at the dock. The Saros 10 performed well in vacuuming tests, particularly on larger debris like pistachio shells and small bits such as dried oregano and cracker crumbs.
However, the Saros 10 has issues with power cables, sucking them up when they are on patterned carpet, but avoiding them on hardwood. It can lift itself over thresholds and thick carpet lips up to heights of 1.57 inches (4 centimeters). The Saros 10's dock is sharp and angular, larger in size compared to some other base stations, and features two large water tanks, a compartment for disposable vacuum bags, and a separate tank for cleaning solution.
In contrast, the Saros 10R maneuvers around objects with ease, thanks to its improved object recognition. It is intended to be the successor to the previous flagship, the S8 MaxV Ultra.
