Robot Awaits Commands in Minsk Café
In the offbeat Minsk neighborhood of Yugo-Zapad, a unique waiter has been welcomed into the local food scene. This ain't your average Joe (or Jane) - it's Olli, a robot, gracing the tables of the "Odesa-mama" café in the "Titan" shopping center.
To fit right in, Olli sports a nautical-themed white and blue color scheme. But what sets him apart from the human waiters are his high-tech assets: cameras hidden in his large eyes to detect obstacles and locate tables, an AI brain to make decisions, and enough plate-carrying power to handle up to 30 kilos on his three internal shelves.
While Olli can handle delivering menus, shuttling dishes from the kitchen, and clearing plates, stacking the dishes might still be a challenge. Nevertheless, this mechanical marvel remains reserved and less social, making him more of a functional assistant than a chatterbox companion.
And one more thing - he don't take tips. No tips for this hardworking bot, as human waiters will lend a hand if needed.
In a statement, the "Titan" shopping center defended their decision, "We didn't hire Olli to pinch pennies on waiters. Our main goal is to create an enjoyable atmosphere. Olli's still got a lot to learn and improve, but progress never sleeps, and tech advancements are rapidly sweeping across the food industry."
