The much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge is set to make a splash in the smartphone market with an impressive upgrade to its battery capacity. According to the latest reports, the upcoming device will feature a battery of approximately 4,200 mAh, marking a significant improvement over its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Edge, which had a 3,900 mAh battery.

This battery capacity is not just a minor tweak; it represents an approximately 8% increase in battery power. This upgrade is expected to address one of the criticisms levelled at the Galaxy S25 Edge, which was praised for its sleek design but criticised for its relatively small battery.

The larger battery capacity in the Galaxy S26 Edge is particularly noteworthy given the larger display size of the Edge model. This increase should translate into improved battery life, offering users a more enjoyable experience, especially during extended use such as gaming.

The Galaxy S26 Edge is slated to replace both the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Edge in Samsung’s lineup and is expected to launch in January 2026, alongside other S26 series models.

In our review of the Galaxy S25 Edge, while the device generally impressed, its battery life was a point of disappointment, especially when it came to gaming. With the increased battery capacity in the S26 Edge, Samsung seems poised to address this issue, offering users a device that delivers on all fronts.

However, heat dissipation remains a challenge for the Galaxy S25 Edge, and Samsung will need to find a better way to reduce heat build-up to ensure the impressive battery life promised by the larger power pack.
