Samsung's Latest Durable Tablet and Smartphone Appear Ideal for a Hiking Excursion or Construction Project
Samsung's latest offerings for the US market include two robust devices, perfect for trekking or demanding jobs. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro tablet and Galaxy XCover6 Pro smartphone boast military-grade resilience and 5G connectivity. Their standout feature, however, is their swap-out batteries, which should enhance their durability in their projected industries.
The Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro and Galaxy XCover6 Pro meet MIL-STD-810H standards, meaning they can endure high altitudes, extreme temperatures, and a wide variety of vibration and humidity levels. The tablet sports Gorilla Glass 5 screens, while the smartphone uses Gorilla Glass Victus Plus screens, similar to those on the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 devices. Both devices are IP68 rated for dust and water resistance.
As mentioned, the Galaxy Tab Active4Pro and Galaxy XCover6 Pro have interchangeable batteries, making them more serviceable than those with soldered parts. The Tab Active4Pro also has a 'No Battery Mode,' allowing you to charge the device without affecting its battery pack's lifespan. This feature also encourages businesses to use Samsung's hardware as kiosks, a suitable application for rugged devices given customer treatment. Both devices offer Samsung's desktop-style DeX mode.

The Galaxy Tab Active4Pro offers 64GB or 128GB storage, while the XCover6 Pro comes with 128GB. Both devices include microSD expansion slots permiting up to 1TB additional storage and run on the same 6nm processor with 6GB of RAM. They're Samsung's first devices to offer 5G connectivity and Wi-Fi 6E compatibility, a trend growing in industries as they adopt new technologies. The Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro features an integrated S Pen, expanding Samsung's stylus's industry presence.
Samsung has a history of releasing tougher versions of its flagship hardware post-launch.
While the longevity of these devices in the wild remains uncertain, Samsung promises up to four years of software updates and five years of security updates. With time moving swiftly, this commitment makes a difference, preventing you from being left with outdated devices. Even though batteries cannot extend device life indefinitely, swapping them out can extend device life by a small margin.
The Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro tablet starts at $650 and is available today in the US through Samsung's business site. The Galaxy XCover6 Pro smartphone will be available on October 20, with pricing information to be announced soon.
The integration of 5G connectivity and Wi-Fi 6E compatibility in the Galaxy Tab Active4Pro and Galaxy XCover6 Pro aligns with the tech industry's trend of adopting new technologies for the future. With their military-grade resilience and swap-out batteries, these devices are poised to excel in their respective industries, leveraging technology to enhance durability.
