Samsung's New S25 Edge Model Boasts an Impressive Thickness of 5.8mm, Making it the Thinnest Galaxy Ever, Built with Titanium for Strength

Slim and Sleek: The Galaxy S25 Edge

Ever yearned for a phone that's as light as a feather yet boasts an unmatched durability? Meet Samsung's latest marvel, the S25 Edge. This super-slim 5.8mm smartphone, with a featherlight weight of just 163g (5.7oz), is no ordinary slab phone. It's Samsung's thinnest to date, while still packing most of the flagship features the S-series is famous for. Let's dive into the nitty-gritty of this titanium-framed device!

A Cut Above the Rest

The S25 Edge might lack the curved display edges of Samsung's earlier Edge devices, but the "Edge" moniker here signifies its cutting-edge thinness. With a profile thinner than a dime, this phone surprisingly houses a 6.7-inch display, keeping it manageable. The device uses a titanium frame, akin to the S25 Ultra, lending it unexpected sturdiness despite its compactness.

The bright, vibrant display is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel running at QHD+ resolution with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Unfortunately, it doesn't boast an anti-reflective coating, which might be a issue in bright lighting conditions, particularly at lower screen brightness levels. But worry not, it's protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.

Thin is In, but at What Cost?

Samsung whispers of compromises made for the phone's svelte figure, though the truth paints a more complex picture. While the company claims no features have been compromised, the reality is different. The S25 Edge sports a somewhat underwhelming 3,900mAh battery capacity, falling short of the entire S25 lineup, and even the entry-level S25 model. The battery performance might not meet all users' expectations, especially if you're looking for a phone with prowess in the battery department.

The charging capabilities, too, are limited compared to pricier models. The Edge supports only 25W wired fast charging (versus 45W on others) along with 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. But hey, who needs a long chat when you've got such a slinky phone, right?

Snap and Smile

The camera department sees a step back from the triple-lens setups on other S25 models. Instead, the S25 Edge flaunts a 200MP main lens (found in the S25 Ultra) and a 12MP ultrawide that doubles as a macro camera. There's no dedicated telephoto lens, but Samsung swears by the 200MP sensor that offers "optical quality" 2x zoom and AI-enhanced 10x zoom. Selfie lovers will be glad to know the front camera is a capable 12MP shooter with a wide 85-degree field of view.

Pump Up the Power

Samsung hasn't skimped on raw power. The S25 Edge boasts the same Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor and 12GB of RAM as its counterparts. What's impressive is its expanded vapor chamber that supposedly surpasses the cooling system size found in the thicker S25+ model.

In terms of software, the S25 Edge runs Android 15 with Samsung's One UI 7 on top, offering all the AI features introduced with the S25 lineup. With Samsung's promise of seven years of OS updates and security patches, the S25 Edge will stay current till 2032.

Release Date and Pricing

Scheduled for a May 30 release, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is currently up for pre-order. The 256GB model is priced at $1,099, with the 512GB variant costing $1,219. A free storage upgrade promotion (a 512GB model for the price of a 256GB) is on offer for pre-orders made before May 29. The phone will be available in three colors: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Icy Blue.

The S25 Edge may lack a curved display, but its cutting-edge thinness, backed by a titanium frame, sets it apart from other smartphones. Braced with a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor and 12GB RAM, this sleek device offers a vibrant display and a striking camera setup, featuring a 200MP main lens and 12MP ultrawide. However, its battery capacity of 3,900mAh falls short compared to other models in the S25 lineup, and users might need to compromise on battery performance. Despite this sacrifice, the S25 Edge, with its style and advanced technology, remains an exciting venture into the world of gadgets and watches, especially for those who prefer a thinner profile.
