Sarah Puro Named VP for Safety and Tech Policy at Alliance for Automotive Innovation
Sarah Puro has been appointed as the new Vice President for Safety and Technology Policy at the Alliance for Automotive Innovation. She brings a wealth of experience in transportation and technology policy, particularly in autonomous vehicles, connectivity, and cybersecurity.
Puro's career spans various roles in the public and private sectors. Most recently, she served as Senior Director of Public Policy & Outreach at ITS America, where she focused on strategies for autonomous vehicles, connected and electrified mobility, and cybersecurity. Prior to this, she worked at the US Department of Transportation, contributing to policies on innovative mobility solutions. Her expertise lies in legislative and regulatory issues at the intersection of technology and transportation safety.
The Alliance for Automotive Innovation represents the auto industry across the United States. Puro will oversee the organization's safety and technology portfolio, including federal and state policy development and strategy. She aims to continue her commitment to safer transportation, fostering collaboration between the auto industry and government. Before joining ITS America, Puro held senior policy roles at the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations' subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development. She also served as a senior advisor to the National Transportation Safety Board Chair.
Puro's appointment comes as automakers are actively testing, developing, and integrating advanced safety technologies. The Alliance's initiatives cover vehicle safety, industry emissions, and innovations like automated driving and vehicle security. With Puro at the helm, the organization looks to strengthen its efforts in these areas, working closely with policymakers to shape a safer, more innovative automotive future.
