Payback Upgrades Security: Change Your Login Record for Uninterrupted Service

Payback's popularity lies in its point-saving system. But now, there's a shake-up coming. Here's the latest scoop!

Hamm - Payback's been a go-to for shoppers accumulating points, secured for later with a simple card scan. But recently, Payback announced a significant change in their redemption method, as reported by inFranken.de. Customers are required to update their login credentials due to security enhancements, and the 'date of birth & zip code' method will only be available until July 27th. Not everyone's aware you can convert points into cash, too.

Redemption Method Discontinued: Streamlined options remain

In October 2024, the 2-step verification via PayPal app was introduced to Payback, and the company recommends this method. The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) considers it a smart choice, as it adds an extra layer of security to your password.

"Two-factor authentication" is what the BSI calls it, detailing that various methods can be used, ranging from security codes via email or SMS to using a fingerprint sensor or chip card. For maximized security, hardware-based methods are recommended alongside or instead of strong passwords.

How to Set Up 2-Step Verification for Your Payback Account:

  1. Launch the Payback app.
  2. In the bottom right corner, select "Services".
  3. Look for the 2-step verification button at the top. Tap it.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Extended Features: More partnerships and savings opportunities

Since 2025, Payback has introduced extra features to its service. New partners have been added as well, providing even more saving possibilities.

In case you prefer not to use the app, you can still redeem points using a designated PIN. Here's how:

  • Call the service portal at 089/540 2080 22 to receive your PIN.
  • Or, log in to the Payback website to change it yourself.

Now you can keep saving while shopping!

Payback without the app: Using Wish PIN to redeem points

Payback caters to those who prefer a non-app experience, allowing users to redeem points with a personal Wish PIN. Obtain this PIN by contacting the service portal or updating it yourself through the Payback website. With the Wish PIN, you can continue to redeem points and save while you shop.
